Common questions

Why does the camera colour differ from the real thing?

Cameras adjust white balance and exposure to the light around you, so colours read from the camera are approximate. For the best result use daylight, avoid shadows and glare, make the sample area larger, or pick from a photo or a screenshot for exact values.

How do I pick an exact pixel from a photo?

Open the Photo tab, choose a picture, pinch to zoom, and drag with one finger: the magnifier shows the exact pixel. Switch to "Move" to pan without picking. On Android you can also share an image to Color Picker from any app.

What does "% match" mean?

It shows how close your colour is to the named colour, from the CIEDE2000 colour difference (100% = identical).

What does Color Picker Pro include?

No ads, unlimited palettes, a history of up to 1,000 colours, expert formats (LAB, LCh, XYZ, colour temperature, wavelength), Adobe ASE, GIMP GPL and Tailwind export, and extra colour databases. It is available monthly, yearly (with a 3-day free trial) or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices for your country are shown in the app.

Subscriptions, restoring and refunds

iPhone: subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Manage or cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On a new iPhone, open Color Picker → Settings → Restore purchases. For refunds, use reportaproblem.apple.com.

Android: manage or cancel in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, and use Restore purchases in the app's Settings.

Ads and privacy choices

The free version shows a small banner on some screens, never on the camera. You can change your ad consent in Settings → Ad privacy choices.

Is there a desktop version?

Yes: our free Color Picker for Chrome™ extension picks colours from any web page.
